THE DISTRICT OFFICE SUMMER HOURS ARE
MONDAY - THURSDAY 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
My name is Heather Roth and I am the middle school counselor. This is my fourth year to be in this school district. I long term subbed for a Tier 2 class in 2012, and taught Technology part-time last year. I did this while I was finishing my Masters to become a School Counselor. I graduated in May 2014, from Adams State University with my Master of Arts, before that I received my Bachelors from University of North Texas in Sociology.
While going to school and working in the district, I have also had the opportunity to coach various sports. I have coached volleyball at University High, Eaton middle, Highland's middle school, and am now the Head Coach for Highland's high school team. I have coached MS basketball, and HS track. I do have other hobbies other than coaching :). I enjoy the outdoors, including camping, hiking, snowboarding, backpacking, play on a competitive women's league for volleyball, run in the Bolder Boulder, and love doing yoga. I read fiction novels and self help books. I am an aunt of a niece and a nephew, they are the light of my life!
This year the theme for the MS is GRIT. This is an acronym for Growing Responsible, Intelligent Teenagers. It is my goal to help students understand how their actions affect them in the long run, and also affect others. I will strive to be a liaison between student/teachers, teachers/parents, parents/students, and parents/administrators. I want to help students learn how to take responsibility for their own actions.Teaching students how to cope with struggles they may be facing in the classroom, on the court, at home, or in the hallways can often be challenging, but it is my goal to help students, teachers, and parents use tools and resources to ease these problems.
I am thrilled to be a Highland Husky and can not wait to see all the students! This year is going to be a great year!
